🏛️ Montana has two county clerks. The Clerk & Recorder records deeds (MCA 7-4-2611) and issues certified birth and death certificates for any Montana birth or death (50-15-121) — $8 and $7 at the county (7-4-2631(1)(l)). It is the election administrator unless the county commission appoints one (13-1-301). 💍 The Clerk of District Court issues marriage licenses: $53 in every county (25-1-201(1)(l)), no waiting period, valid 180 days anywhere in Montana (40-1-212, 40-1-201(2)). 🏠 Recording is $20 for the first page and $10 for each page after (7-4-2637). 🚗 The county Treasurer registers vehicles (61-3-303). Assumed business names are registered with the Secretary of State, not the county (30-13-203).
