ClerkSifter is a free public resource that helps you find county clerk offices and understand what to bring, what forms you need, and what things cost. We keep this policy short and plain: we collect very little, and we do not sell your data.
1. What information we collect
- No accounts. ClerkSifter has no user accounts and no registration. You can use the entire site without signing up or giving us your name.
- Usage data (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used. Its script sets two cookies on clerksifter.com (
_gaand_ga_W3ZW5FGCV1) that hold a randomly generated identifier. With each page view it sends Google that identifier, the page's address and title, the page you came from (if any), your browser's language and screen size, and details of your browser and device. Google uses your IP address to estimate a general location; Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use this to see which pages are read, not to identify anyone. - Information you volunteer. If you submit our Google Form (used to report or verify county clerk details), we receive the information you choose to enter in that form.
- Cookies.ClerkSifter's own code sets no cookies. The Google Analytics script described above sets two, and an affiliate partner may set its own if you follow its link, as described below.
2. How we use information
- We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages are visited so we can improve the site.
- We use Google Form responses solely to improve the accuracy of our county pages.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
3. Advertising
ClerkSifter carries no display advertising at present. It is supported by the affiliate links described in the next section.
4. Affiliate Links
ClerkSifter participates in these affiliate programs:
- Trust & Will (through the Impact affiliate network)
- Sportsman's Guide (through the CJ affiliate network)
- NotaryLive
- Bizee (through the Awin affiliate network)
On some pages we include a clearly labeled affiliate link to a partner's product or service.
- Every affiliate link sits in its own card that says what it is. Most are labeled “Affiliate Partner.” On business-name (DBA) pages, the Bizee card is labeled “Paid service from a private company,” and those pages also carry a disclosure just below the page heading. Each card states beneath its link that ClerkSifter may earn a commission.
- If you use one of these links and make a purchase, ClerkSifter may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you.
- Affiliate partners may use their own cookies to attribute a purchase to us. This does not change the price you pay.
5. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used, as described in section 1. You can read how Google handles this data in Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
6. Third-party links
ClerkSifter links to official government websites and other third-party resources. Once you leave ClerkSifter, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.
