Register a Business Name in Lunenburg County, VA

This is set by statute, not by the Commission: Va. Code § 59.1-70 — “The clerk of the Commission shall charge a fee of $10 for the filing of a certificate of assumed or fictitious name.” File online at the SCC Clerk's Information System for fastest processing; paper filings are also accepted.
If a county page tells you to file at the courthouse, it is out of date. Some Virginia circuit court clerks' own pages still describe the old local filing; what is left at the courthouse is dissolving a fictitious name recorded there before the change. New registrations go to the Commission — VA Code § 59.1-69(B) (as amended in 2017) requires filing “in the office of the clerk of the Commission”.
