“County clerks shall receive a fee of fifty dollars for the entire proceedings of issuing a marriage license, administering the related oaths or affirmations, and recording a marriage certificate. An additional fee of sixteen dollars shall be made for each certified copy of a marriage record on file in the office of the county clerk” (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 33-110). A licence “shall be obtained from a county clerk in the State of Nebraska” (§ 42-104) — any county clerk.

No waiting period · valid one year · two witnesses at the ceremony

No waiting period appears in the marriage statutes. A marriage is recognized only if the licence was “used within one year from the date of issuance” (§ 42-104). At the ceremony “there shall be at least two witnesses, besides the minister or magistrate present at the ceremony” (§ 42-109). Both parties must be at least seventeen (§ 42-102), and a party under nineteen — a minor in Nebraska — needs “the written consent under oath” of a parent or guardian (§ 42-105).
