The register of deeds and the county clerk charge “ten dollars for the first page and six dollars for each additional page” for recording an instrument (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 33-109). Part of each fee goes to records preservation and modernization — inside the figure, not added to it. A deed also carries the documentary stamp tax, a tax on the grantor that is separate from the recording fee (§ 76-901).
