Ohio marriage licenses are issued by the Probate Court in the county where either applicant resides. Both applicants must appear in person with valid photo ID.
What state law sets: $27.00. That is $10.00 for the license (ORC 2101.16(A)(46)) and the $17.00 domestic-violence shelter fee every probate court must collect (ORC 3113.34); a probate judge may add up to $3.00 for computerization (ORC 2101.162). What courts publish is higher: the four whose schedules we could read charge $50.00 (Athens), $60.00 (Knox), $62.00 (Highland) and $75.00 (Carroll) — so budget above $50 and confirm with your own Probate Court, which may charge outside that range. Some courts add a card surcharge on top.
