New Jersey County Clerk Offices

Select your county to find office hours, fees, forms, and what to bring

🏢 In New Jersey, the County Clerk handles Trade Name Certificates (the mandatory DBA for sole proprietors and general partnerships), passports, and the notary oath. Note that marriage licenses come from your municipality— the town's Registrar of Vital Statistics ($28, 72-hour waiting period), not the County Clerk. Deeds are recorded at the County Clerk in every county except Essex and Hudson, which have a separate Register of Deeds.
