🏛️ In Iowa the County Recorder is the county registrar: it issues marriage licenses and certified birth, death and marriage copies (Iowa Code 144.9, 595.3), records deeds (331.602) and trade names (547.1). 💍 A marriage license is $35 in every county, one certified copy included (331.605(1)(g)), and becomes valid three days after it is issued; the ceremony needs two witnesses (641 IAC 98.6). 🏠 Recording is $7for the first page and $5 for each page after (331.604), and a deed adds the auditor's $5 transfer fee per parcel (331.507). 📄 Certified copies are $20 since July 1, 2026. The County Auditor registers voters (47.2), and any County Treasurer titles and registers vehicles (321.20).
