In Texas a “DBA” is an Assumed Name Certificate. Sole proprietors and unincorporated businesses file it with the County Clerk for about $15–$25, and it is valid up to 10 years. The critical change: since September 2019, LLCs and corporations file assumed names only with the Texas Secretary of State — the county no longer accepts them.
