The Clerk of the Peace issues marriage licenses only. To order a certified birth certificate, contact the Delaware Office of Vital Statistics, which keeps these records for the entire state.
$25.00 per copy, made payable to the State of Delaware, and kept as a search fee if no record is found. Mail it to the Office of Vital Statistics in Dover, or take it to the office in your county — Newark for New Castle, Dover for Kent, Georgetown for Sussex. Not to this office. You must state your relationship to the person on the certificate and show proof of it, such as a birth or marriage certificate.
