The base annual fee for a passenger car is $23, an Alabama certificate of title is $15 (plus a $1.50 agent fee), and an annual ad valorem (property) tax that varies by the vehicle's value and your county is collected at renewal. Alabama uses a staggered renewal — your renewal month is set by the first letter of your last name (for example F, G, or N renew in April).
