Registration in Alabama is run by the county board of registrars, not the Judge of Probate: Ala. Code § 17-3-2(a)(1) says “registration shall be conducted in each county by a board of three reputable and suitable individuals”. Register online at alabamavotes.gov, by mail, or in person at the board. § 17-3-50 closes the books: the boards “shall not register any person as a qualified elector within 14 days prior to any election”, so register at least 15 days out to vote in the next one.
